How to Not Be Consumed By Small Setbacks

Due to negativity bias, even the smallest of setbacks can hinder your perspective. However, it is important to put things into the general perspective and realize that everyone has setbacks, and that it is okay to have setbacks.

Life can often be unexpected, and technically it is impossible to predict everything. There might be things that you didn't account for in your planning that could serve as setbacks along your journey to be successful in whatever you set your eyes upon.

However, it is important to look at things from an eagle's point of view, and ask yourself the following question: Is it that bad overall? You should ask yourself this question often to assess the situation you're in, and then the more you do it, the more you might realize that things aren't necessarily as bad as they might appear at one point of time.

We all have setbacks from time to time, and during these setbacks, it can appear like things are going south. However, when compared to the general, more holistic perception of your situation, these can appear as what they might be: small setbacks.

So, why do we feel like these setbacks are major? Maybe, deep down, we are afraid. Afraid of failing. Afraid of feeling unstable. Afraid of losing it all.

However, sometimes it is the stress that talks to us, that tells us that the situation is worse than what it actually might be.

So, don't give up on small setbacks. Look around you, and see if things are really as bad just several hours later, when you have calmed down. Keep your head straight, and evaluate with yourself or by using others, if you're doing great.

Because if it is but a small setback, most likely is, that you're doing good and well despite said setback. If so, cheer up! Cheer, because you could be doing worse, and you don't!

Don't give up just yet! If you're not doing great, then work on yourself until you do, you can have this under your control...
