The Mask of Salvation (Poem)

Updated: Feb 16

(Melody of Inspiration)

(September 2023 note: I am no longer handicapped. I explained why in this article).

*************************

Five cursed years,

Of chronic fatigue,

Attempted to ruin the future,

I wanted, for me.

But now with this mask I,

Sob from oxygen in my eyes.

Drunk with the realization of,

How it was, before I kneeled.

It was foolish of me,

To see it as inevitability.

It was unwise of me,

To submit to negativity.

It prevented me work and academy,

But now I might read a lot, engage more with society.

My life does not have to be a mess,

For I might be able to be back in business!

But my liberty is forever gone,

As it is ruled by a device, second to none.

I might forever be a handicap,

As without electricity, what worth is it, my cup?

Good-bye, in-de-pen-dence!

[Long pause]

Despite knowing yet again,

How it feels to be pure from it,

A great desire still remains,

To not yet retire, from this:

World Relevancy,

Now a greater possibility.

I eternally own my gratitude,

To electricity!

It was unrealistic of me,

To think I can actually be free.

From society and from disability,

As now that is a delusional reality!

Without my welfare I would've died,

After a life where no other solution was tried!

Should the purge resume indefinitely,

Then I can work even harder, for humanity!

But my liberty is forever gone,

As it is ruled by a device, second to none.

I might forever be a handicap,

As without electricity, what worth is it, my cup?

Good-bye, in-de-pen-dence!
